Purpose: The AIS Lab is designed to increase your skills in both reading and writing, so that you will be able to successfully master the New York State Regents Examination in English given in January of your junior year. Throughout the year we will work on study skills, reading and writing skills, organization skills, regents tasks, etc. This lab is designed to help you to do better in your classes. Please utilize this period to obtain the help that you need.
Materials : Please bring a pen (blue or black ink only) and your homework to class on each Lab day. Also, you will be provided with a 2-pocket folder to be stored in our room.
Procedures: You are expected to follow the guidelines listed below. Any questions or concerns should be discussed with me before or after class.
1) Class begins when the bell rings. Please be ready and seated at that time with work to complete and ALL materials. 2) At the end of class when the bell rings, the teacher will dismiss you. Please wait until that time to gather your materials and depart. 3) You must bring all work with you to lab. Excursions to your locker and the library will not be permitted. 4) Copying from another student, the Internet, or any other source will not be tolerated. This is called plagiarism and is a serious academic offense. Parents will be notified, and the assignment will not receive credit.
5) When absent for any reason, you must make arrangements to make up any work missed. Please ask the teacher for appropriate materials upon your return to school so that you will not fall behind.
6). This course is graded on a pass/fail basis. If you are here and are working on your assignments, possess a positive attitude and put forth effort you will pass lab.
I look forward to a very successful year and to helping you succeed.
